About Insight America

OUR MISSION

Insight stages fine plays by great American authors with U.S. actors and flies them over the sea to foster international goodwill and understanding. These audiences have few other chances to see genuine American productions of modern classics.

We focus on fine acting and clear direction to show universal truths. We keep settings simple and seek innovative technical solutions to meet the challenge of playing a broad range of venues on a modest budget.

We offer study materials, talks, and workshops to those learning about our playwrights, language and culture.

We strive to develop strong relationships with the people and places we visit, based on a mutual respect for high-quality theater that builds appreciation across borders and cultures.

WHAT WE OFFER

·       We publish and distribute, free of charge, appealing, academically valuable educational study materials to accompany our productions.

·       We conduct free educational talks and group discussions in connection with our performances to enhance our audience's learning experience.

·       We offer educational workshops for young actors to learn in depth about American acting techniques and our artistic approach to the plays we produce.

·       We offer a flexible scale of fees to make it possible for all kinds of groups and venues to host our performances.

·       We make low- or no-cost tickets available to charities and groups to distribute to people (such as students, senior citizens, or the disabled) who might not otherwise afford a ticket.

HOW IT WORKS

Our productions suit audiences of age 15 and older, with five years of English. Because the plays examine universal themes, have transparent plots, and use clear-speaking professional theater actors, often even those less sure of their English are surprised to find they understand even more than at an American movie.

We present our plays at theaters, arts centers and schools, in towns of all sizes. Our audiences are high school and university students as well as the general public. We also take our shows to international theatre festivals, and perform them in the U.S.

FOR ACTORS

·       The tours provide actors, crew and other tour volunteers an excellent opportunity to learn firsthand about the countries we visit and their citizens, and to work together with foreign artists in each local venue.

·       The company covers travel expenses and provides stipends, so that artists can take part who otherwise could not afford to come on such a trip.

·       On tour, our company members essentially serve as “goodwill ambassadors” reaching out to those who want to learn about our country, our language, our playwrights, and our culture.
